Dr. James R. Guzman is based out of Houston, Texas and received his doctorate in physical therapy from the University of Texas Medical Branch. He earned his master’s degree in human performance from the University of Houston. His clinical experience in physical therapy spans more than 20 years and he successfully blends strengthening, biomechanics, and movement science into his daily practice. James draws upon his background in sports medicine, neurological rehabilitation, and osteopathic medicine to offer a comprehensive approach to helping patients with complex presentations.
Dr. Guzman is a dental integration consultant. By working closely with Houston area dentists, orthodontists, and myofunctional therapists, he can offer relief to patients suffering from more complex presentations such as cranial, cervicogenic and orofacial in nature. Typical presentations for these types of patients include postural asymmetries, visual convergence, headaches, neck and jaw pain that are breathing and posture related. James continues to build his skills in the areas of airway management, oral appliance therapy and vision dysfunction as they relate to body asymmetries.

James’s background in academia includes teaching for the University of Houston while offering students advanced concepts in sports medicine and applied kinesiology. He has also taught professional course work to physical and occupational therapists in many settings including Texas Orthopedic Hospital, Bayshore Medical Center, and at the University of Texas Medical Branch. He currently holds the position of clinical faculty for Applied Integration Acadamy and strives to educate the community on how the body’s impact on occlusion and airway can affect daily lives.
